Archaeology on Hatfield Moors!

A Neolithic trackway and platform was recently discovered on Hatfield Moors. It is currently being investigated by researchers at the University of Birmingham. More information will be made available when investigations are completed, but recent news may be accessed by following this LINK.

New threat to Thorne Moors as a new windfarm including over 25 turbines is proposed. Further information available at: Thorne and District Windfarm Advisory Group

Peat Cutting halted on Hatfield Moors?

Thanks to a new £17.3 m initiative by English Nature and central government, Thorne and Hatfield Moors have been purchased from Scotts. Peat extraction ceased immediately on Thorne, but continued on Hatfield Moors for a further 2 years. Extraction has now mostly ceased on Hatfield Moors, but some limited extraction continues in areas along its margins.

Thorne Moors and most of Hatfield Moors included in the list of cSACs.

   

On the 5th March 2003, Thorne Moors and most of Hatfield Moors were included in the list of cSACs which were forwarded to the European Commission
