The following is an annotated checklist of the birds known to have occurred on and around Hatfield Moors, with details given of status, often including recorded dates and maximum counts. It is hoped that at some point in the future a complete report can be compiled. In the meantime this is meant to stand as a rough guide as to the occurrences and status of the avifauna of the SSSI and surrounding areas. This list has been extracted from the Hatfield Moors Bird Report 2002-2004, compiled by Simon Mitchell. The status is given to the end of 2004 except where significant records from 2005 onwards are included. If you have records which need to be included in this checklist please forward a copy to the webmaster, .
